The connectors are made from copper pipe: cut to size, squashed on one end and drilled hole on the flat end for five or six to be held together with a bolt. Copper as material was chosen for it’s look to match the natural aesthetic (as poles were to be natural hazel sticks) also for it’s flexibility and softness of the metal as I had only hand tools to use for this project.
Hazel poles were coppiced locally (I prefer to do my own coppicing because not only to ensure regrowth of the bush but also select sticks for perfect fit lengths and thickness wise).
Later both ends of 65 hazel poles had to be sharpened similar to pencil ends to fit into the copper tubing and then secured-in with couple screws.
It required special design for doorway so when taking out few poles from traditional 2v geodesic dome plan it would hold sturdy and provide a stable entrance structure.
